Trudie Cooper Krawcheck

trudiek@southeasterngalleries.com

Trudie’s clients say she is methodical, drawing architectural plans, doing background research, and viewing the family’s belongings before embarking on an actual home design. Trudie always incorporates pieces important to a family into the design, even if they have to be repurposed. In many ways, Trudie Cooper Krawcheck was born into the world of interior design. Born and raised around her family’s beautiful Charleston homes, Trudie learned to appreciate great design early on. For her, it’s not a job or a career but a way of life, and she brings that approach to every working relationship. When she works with clients, they get all of that passion and expertise, while bringing to life their style. Representing the third generation of the Cooper family at Southeastern Galleries, Trudie puts her heart and soul into every design while striving to reflect her clients’ styles and tastes. She believes her job is to look and listen to clients in order to create a design that fully reflects their personalities and stories. After graduating Ashley Hall, Agnes Scott College and the College of Charleston with a fine arts degree, Trudie fulfilled her destiny by joining the family business 42 years ago. In that time she has developed long-term relationships with many clients who have become her friends. One family in Kiawah has asked her to design six houses, all of which reflect the family’s living style and tastes, without any two of them alike. The style of Trudie’s grandparents and parents have become her own, leavened by modernity. Her own home includes spectacular family heirlooms with more contemporary upholstery. “I love pairing the old with the new, so my home is livable and comfortable and makes you feel welcomed,” she says. She did inherit her mother’s and grandmother’s desire to set a formal dinner table, complete with her grandmother’s china and mother’s silver goblets. She likes her family to sit down to dinner around a table that reflects the family’s heritage. At Trudie’s dinner table, the conversation veers away from design towards sports – thanks to her active 24-year-old son, Jack. Trudie focuses her time and attention on her son’s activities and the work for which she has so much passion and husband Johnny Parker. “There is such joy in doing what you love and working with clients that you love,” she says.

Randolph Cooper

Randolphc@southeasterngalleries.com

A fourth generation member of the Southeastern Galleries family, Randolph Cooper grew up immersed in his great-grandparents’ vast knowledge of fine design. Dinner table conversation included the names Adams, Wedgewood, Chippendale and other staples of the industry. Randolph’s extensive travels as a child, particularly through Asia and Micronesia, inspired an appreciation for three things: the gorgeous mosaic of foreign cultures, the varied aesthetics that span the globe, and a reverence for the unique history and beauty of his home city of Charleston. After graduating from the College of Charleston, Randolph embarked on his career at Ralph Lauren, where he paired new sales skills with a further sharpening of his design talents. Ralph Lauren offered Randolph the first platform to express his passion for design. Charleston and his family beckoned, and Randolph returned to Southeastern Galleries eighteen years ago to help clients complete their homes. Randolph pours himself into each project, no matter how big or small, combining an appreciation for old world design and antique pieces while utilizing new and current elements in design. On the one hand, he says, a historical sensibility need not be stuffy. On the other hand, “progress for the sake of progress results in poor design.” Randolph loves his job at Southeastern Galleries. He works every day with his cousin and aunt, and takes immense pride in a store that is such a large part of his life. He appreciates the great blessing and honor of upholding the family legacy for superb customer service. One of his favorite aspects of the job is the clients, many of whom have become his friends. Whether clients need his assistance in designing the layout of a multi-million dollar home or choosing a single nightstand, he is humbled by the opportunity to educate and guide them. “I love to do this,” he says. “Even on my worst day I’m excited to wake up and work with clients, my family and some of the most intelligent designers in the Southeast.” Randolph is energized by life in the Holy City. The focus on historic preservation and restoration inspire him. You might see him at one of a plethora of cultural activities – like SEWE, Spoleto and Restaurant Week – or offshore fishing with family, friends and a frosty brew in hand. He also contributes his considerable talents to our community, volunteering on the city’s tourism development committee and with Charleston Animal Society, from which he adopted his dog, Wellfleet. It always comes back to design for Randolph. After all, it’s in his blood. He loves working with the great furniture makers and trendsetters across the world, including Earl Spencer, brother of Princess Diana and a renowned designer and collector in his own right. Whatever he is doing, Randolph combines an intensity for appreciating beauty with a lightheartedness about life itself.

Melissa Moore

MelissaM@southeasterngalleries.com

Melissa B. Moore has always wanted to be an Interior Designer. By age ten, she already “owned” her own Design business and was space planning for family and friends. Her second love, ballet, initially led her to major in Dance where she was selected to be Clara in the university production of “The Nutcracker.” After her first year of college, she realized her goal of becoming a prima ballerina was not likely and she changed her major to Interior Design with a minor in Art. In 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Radford University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. Upon graduation, Melissa was offered Interior Design positions throughout the country… including Vail, CO and Atlanta, GA. Instead of leaving her home state, Melissa chose to pursue positions in Richmond and southwestern Virginia. Under the supervision of very experienced/talented designers, Melissa learned from the experts as she developed her own residential and commercial design practice. Her projects range from entire residences to commercial spaces throughout VA. Not forgetting her roots, Melissa served on university boards and was frequently asked to be a mentor for Interior Design students. Recognized for her interior design expertise, she has been featured as a guest speaker and spoken to many organizations on a variety of design topics. In 2004, Melissa moved to the Lowcountry where she has continued to practice design in many different genres. Melissa’s love of design comes from working with her clients (friends) – many of whom have referred friends and family. Melissa believes, “Design is a very personal field in which the designer will wear many hats. Among other things, the designer will also be a counselor and teacher.” Melissa loves when people invite her into their refuge and “safe place.” “I am always humbled and honored to help clients design their home and make it a sanctuary to relax, entertain, and recharge from their everyday lives. I take my clients personalities and mold it into a design for their home that reflects their style and how they will “live” in the space.”

Robin Rogers

robinr@southeasterngalleries.com

Landing in Charleston was truly a blessing. I was told it would be impossible to break into the design community here, but the stars aligned. One of my earliest opportunities came when I participated in an ASID Designer Showhouse, which led to being hired for a home renovation in Yeaman’s Hall. That single project turned into a 25-year collaboration, during which we renovated or built six homes together—a true honor. In the 80s, I decided to formally pursue my passion by studying Interior Design at the Southern Institute in Huntsville, Alabama. From my very first drafting class, I was hooked. To this day, I still draft and create renderings by hand, which remains one of my favorite parts of the design process. After graduation, my family and I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where I worked for an interior design firm and fell in love with high-end design. Eventually, I returned to my hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina, where I expanded my experience by working with a high-end furniture gallery. For more than 40 years, I have dedicated myself to transforming interiors into beautiful, functional, and personalized spaces. My work is driven by a passion for design and an eye for detail. I especially enjoy working with floor plans, which I see as the road map for creating cohesive, tailored environments that reflect each client’s unique style.   Interior design has been my life’s work. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to not only create meaningful spaces but also form lasting friendships with many of my clients.
