Transcendence 2 magnificently recalls the early works of Adolph Gottlieb, an American abstract painter. In the upper right-hand corner, a swath of burnt umber draws the viewer's gaze. Across the canvas highly tactile biomorphic forms and abstracted symbols offer visual interest, while an interplay between faint and more pronounced markings conveys a sense of movement. Varied brushstrokes and saturation add to the highly textural feel and come boldly together in a rich palette of ash, olive, onyx, and grey.
